Sleep Sleep

"Sleep Sleep is a continuation of my reflections on religious, territorial and economic wars. Goya’s Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters series of etchings were guiding influences.

Most of the sculptures, prints, paintings and text-based works I produced reflected on constructs of the ‘Unknown ’or “The Other”. These fabrications of otherness seem to me to be universally perpetuated and refined in order to sustain fear, militancy and a continuedcall to arms.

I have commingled sleep, nightmares anddreams resulting in contradicting images of guilt and innocence. Humour is darkand, as is the case in much of my work, the opposing forces of humour andtragedy are tightly bound. "
